In April 2011, Larisa Manewal (of Sitka) and I, visited Atqasuk, Alaska, to observe rural teaching practices. This Inpuiaq community of about 225 people is located 70 miles South of Barrow out on the tundra alongside the Meade River. The students and teachers were incredibly welcoming, and this trip has been a major highlight of my MAT experience. Please enjoy the slideshow, and if you ever get a chance to visit Atqasuk, don't pass it up!
