OTHER ACTIVITIES AND INTERESTS

Cross-Country Skiing

I trained year-round for the sport for nine years, starting locally in middle school with Alaska Winter Stars. I won the Alaska State High School Championships in 2005, and represented Alaska twice at Junior Nationals, earning two bronze medals. In college, I was one of the top three female skiers on the Williams Nordic Ski Team (Division I) throughout my sophomore, junior, and senior seasons.

Music

I had a vigorous high school flute career, playing for the West High Band, the Anchorage Youth Symphony, and the Alaska All-State Band. In college, I studied music theory academically and took classical voice lessons.

Opinion Editorials

Senior year, I wrote Op-Eds for my college paper ranging from personal reflection to political commentary.

Outdoors

As a life-long Alaskan, I enjoy many outdoor activities. Highlights include hiking in the Chugach Mountains, skijoring with my dogs, and childhood float trips down the Yukon River with my family.
